We left the store hours later,
Our purses a little lighter our bags a little heavier
Walking back with a childlike glee
A lot of zeal we foresee
In green and red and blue they come
To break the black and white humdrum (of the textbooks)
If you were to walk by our spot in the library while we weren’t there, you could with certainty tell where we’d be sitting. Post its in all the shapes and sizes that they come, ruled and un-ruled, all the the muted color ones, the loud and bold, the “aw so cute ones”. You name it, we have it. A myriad colored highlighters, we’ve tested all the brands they make them in. Fluroscent pens, felt tip pens, gel pens, roller ball pens, bold marker, fine tip marker….we could go on.
People often ask us why we use so many colors in our books and if its just color why we can’t make do with a couple of colors. As if on cue we look at each other and grin sheepishly “Because, just.”
The circuit in our brain is wired like this. Nothing gets across our skulls otherwise. Believe me, we’ve tried. So I don’t know if we’re friends because of our shared love for stationery or if it was our friendship that resulted in this synergistic love. Either way, that’s how we roll!
P.s. If our stash gets stolen, we’d go bankrupt while trying to restock it.
